Is it Thanksgiving weekend already? All I can say is thank goodness I’m not a turkey, otherwise my chances for survival would be slim to none this long weekend. I don’t know about you, but September was short lived and I am definitely suffering from summer withdrawals. In fact I am in full denial that summer is even over, except for the leaves on the ground and the cool crispness in the air. The more I think about it, the more I realize I need to be a snowbird – I just do better in a hot dry climate. Right now I understand its hovering around 100 Fahrenheit in Arizona – hot and dry, perfect! Enough about my whining, it’s time for turkey, dividends, and some good reads for the Thanksgiving long weekend!! 🙂
The Weekly Lineup
MoneyCone is back, and that’s a good thing as he is an excellent writer. In the mutual fund industry, it’s all about spin. Check out his recent post on mutual fund performance in, The Fund That Beat The Market, 9 Times Since 1999.
The Dividend Apprentice just updated his site, and it looks great! He also has a post on one of his first portfolio holdings, in Performance Review: TransCanada Corp. As Rob alludes to, Canadian utilities are trading at premium, but TRP is a solid long-term buy and hold. The takeaway is buy and hold, and hold. 😉
A site I have enjoyed reading recently is – Dividend Stock Growth Investing. Dan recently posted a nice summary of U.S. companies that have raised their dividends in, Notable Dividend Increases: September 2012.
For U.S. investors, The Dividend Guy has a great resource post on the Best Online Trading discount brokers.
The Dividend Mantra is doing a great job with his portfolio and raking in the dividends. Looks like he will be able to retire at 40 no problem! I admire Mantra’s determination and discipline to build a solid retirement portfolio through dividend investing. Check out his recent Dividend Income Update – September 2012.
My Own Advisor is also doing a great job with his dividend portfolio as well, and MOA projects over 6.5K of dividend income this year. Recently he has started to scale back his DRIPs and looking at using his dividend income to pay down the mortgage – a solid investment idea. Check out his recap with September 2012 Dividend Income Update.
Retire by 40 asked Do we really need 6,340,998 to retire?
At Finance Fox, Eddie gave a great summary of CPFC 2012 – Highlights and the Importance of Investing in Yourself and Your Blog. No excuses next year, I’m going to CPFC13! 😉
Dividend Ninja staff writer Hank Coleman was interviewed on the Brashenomics Radio Show last week. Check out his interview with Heather Moore, Three Financial Mistakes College Students Make. Great job Hank!
Have a nice long weekend everyone! 🙂
