This has been probably one of the busiest and most productive two weeks in my blogging career. For some reason everything took off at once – isn’t that always the way?
I’m absolutely delighted and enjoying every minute of it. Last week I attended FinCon12 (Financial Bloggers Conference) in Denver, and Philip of PT Money did yet another over-the-top and amazing job. While attending FinCon12, the deal for a blog I wanted to buy came through, and then I had my first Podcast interview on Thursday evening. I want to share all of these timely events with you.
The Dividend Pig
First off, I’m delighted to announce I am the new owner of The Dividend Pig. If you are not familiar with the Dividend Pig, this one of the top dividend investing blogs of 2010 and 2011, and the author regularly contributed to Seeking Alpha. The Dividend Pig and I started at nearly the same time back in the fall of 2010, and his blog quickly became one of my favourites.
I found the Pig’s articles to ...

MoneySense Magazine
The latest issue of MoneySense Magazine is out, and I’ve been featured along with other Canadian investors, in Julie Cazzin’s article, Get More Out Of Your TFSA. I haven’t received my copy yet, but went up to Shoppers and bought a few extra issues Julie thanx for the opportunity! This Couch Potato TFSA is only a part of my portfolio – now at 5K. I’ll cover my strategies behind the Ninja Potato in more detail early next week.

Tuesday I arrived home after attending the first annual Financial Bloggers Conference in Chicago (aptly named FinCon11). As some of you know I used to run a web company, so networking is one of my favourite past-times! (LOL the 3 drink tickets per night were awesome). I have a stack of 200 business cards from the conference, and I had the chance to meet all these people personally. That’s priceless, and I’ve certainly met some great financial bloggers I will be connecting and collaborating with further. Philip Taylor of PT Money, did an absolute outstanding job of organizing this conference – above and beyond! And he is also a pretty humble and easy-going guy, a real professional. I can hardly wait to see what he does with FinCon12!
One of the first people I met at the conference is Kylie Ofiu, an Australian blogger who has just published her first book – I’ll have more on that in mid October with a book giveaway! And of course I met so many well know bloggers from ...
The Weekly Lineup: End of Summer Edition

I’ve noticed over the last few days there’s a colder breeze in the air, and the large maple in the front yard is beginning to drop its leaves. The end of summer is nearing, and fall is on its way. There is also the weight on people’s shoulders, of that inevitable return to work after the Labour Day weekend. Everyone is winding down from summer fun getting prepared for the inevitable 9-5 grind. And for kids and teens, it’s back to school. That last point is especially important to me, since I just purchased a position in Staples Inc. (SPLS-Q) and looking forward to seeing back to school profits on the next earnings report. So you know where I would like you to buy your kid’s back to school supplies!
The Financial Blogger Conference
It’s only a month until the first annual Financial Blogger Conference begins. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to go to this conference. Philip has done a really exceptional job of organizing, promoting, and putting this huge event ...

I’m delighted to announce I was nominated for the Second Annual Plutus Awards, an award celebrating the best in personal finance! And the Dividend Ninja was no-less nominated in two categories, for Best Investing Blog, and for Best Designed Personal Finance Blog. I was indeed quite humbled to be considered a Best Investing Blog, considering the calibre and quality of other great investment bloggers out there. Thank you to all those who nominated me! The winners will be announced at the 1st Annual Financial Bloggers Conference in Chicago, which I will be attending at the beginning of October.
If you’re curious what Plutus is all about, and the origins of the word, you can read up on the Greek mythology surrounding wealth, and its origins from Pluto and the underworld. As Flexo writes, “If the awards were named the Pluto Awards, it would sound more like we were honoring a Disney character or paying respect to the former ninth planet of the solar system.”
And now for the pitch! ...
