As mentioned in Part-1 of this series, I set out to write a wrap-up of investing strategies for 2012. While I was writing the post, the thought occurred to me why not ask the other well known bloggers and financial writers what they think? I was delighted with the response I received, and it’s now turned into this much larger two-part post.
Here is a recap what I sent them, hoping for a small paragraph:
“Short of hauling out the crystal ball, because your guess is as good as mine, I also wanted to know what sectors are in your radar, or even what stocks are on your favourite list – if you’re so inclined to share with my readers.”
“What do you think is the most important lesson investors need to remember going into 2012? Where do you think the best investment opportunities for investors will be? “
Here is what these financial bloggers and writers think are the best investment strategies and opportunities for 2012 (Part -2):

The Derek Foster Interviews
It was a real pleasure to interview Derek Foster last week! He certainly is a personable guy who really knows his material. I think you will find a lot of prudent advice in the interviews, and some answers to questions you may have had. If you haven’t already, be sure to read my interview with Derek Foster: Part-1 and Part-2.
My Own Advisor also interviewed Derek Foster back in December of 2010. You can read Mark’s interviews in My Own Advisor Interview with Derek Foster, Part-1 and Part-2.
The Weekly Lineup
There were some really exceptional posts around the web this week. Here were my favourites:
Million Dollar Journey wrote a quick tutorial on How to Write Covered Call Options – A Step by Step Guide. I have always been a buy what you pay for kind of guy, unless it’s a Line of Credit for investing, or an RRSP loan – so options is definitely something I need to learn. From what I understand Covered Call Options are considered quite conservative, ...

Part-2
Continued from Part-1. If you haven’t already, be sure to read the fist half of the interview…
Derek Foster needs no introduction! He quit the rat race at 34 and became a millionaire using simple investment strategies. He shared his unique approach in his five National Bestselling Books, including STOP WORKING: Here’s How You Can, and The Idiot Millionaire.
Derek also offers regular financial tips in Canadian MoneySaver Magazine and he has been featured in various media across Canada. Love him or leave him, Derek Foster is an inspiration to many investors using a dividend focused strategy to fund their (hopefully early) retirement.
Dividend Ninja:
Derek in the previous half of the interview, I asked you about index investing. Don’t you think with a 100% dividend portfolio, which is really a 100% equity portfolio, you’re taking risk with that?
Derek:
No, it depends on how you define risk. Volatility risk, absolutely! Sure if I’m going to look at my statements ...

When not writing or giving public speaking presentations about investing, Derek spends his time with his wife and five children (which can be quite a handful). I was really impressed with Derek’s ability to answer my questions in such depth and candor, without prior review. I really appreciate him taking the time. I hope you enjoy my Friday the 13th Interview (in 2 parts) with Derek Foster:

Feedburner Issues
This week, Feedburner sent out old feeds from the Ninja. Apparently other bloggers have reported this issue as well. So if you receive old feeds, I apologize for the inconvenience. With my web savvy experience, I’ll find a fix for this as soon as I can
What Happened to the TD Post?
This week I also wrote a post on TD e-series funds, and TD Waterhouse fees. My RSS subscribers would have received this post. Some of my points were not solely isolated to TD and TD Waterhouse, nor clearly presented. So I decided to pull this post and send it back to the drawing board. TD has also expressed an interest for discussion, which I think is fantastic. How can you not appreciate a big bank reaching out to its customers?
My Derek Foster Interview
I also had the pleasure to interview Derek Foster this morning Funny how that ended up on Friday the 13th. For Canadian and U.S. dividend investors, Derek certainly needs no introduction. I’m looking forward to getting ...
