Never Too Late: Take Control of Your Retirement and Your Future (Import)The Book giveaway is now closed… Congratulations to Lyne Brosseau!

Gail Vaz-Oxlade is well known to Canadians. She is the author of Debt-Free Forever, and host of the ever popular TV series Til Debt Do US Part, and a writer for Chatelaine Magazine. In her recent book, Never Too Late, Take Control of Your Retirement and Your Future, Gail takes readers through practical and hands on steps for securing, planning, and saving for retirement.

Never Too Late, is not some fluffy finance book that should sit on your coffee table and collect dust, it’s a take action and task oriented workbook, with the clear steps from A to B. In fact if starts to collect dust you are really missing out on some valuable information, and Gail will be the first to visit your home and give you flack for it! If you’re one of those readers who despise the dull and boring finance book, and you’re looking for direction to get started with retirement, then this is the book for you!  Gail organizes the book into four main sections: Figure out where you are now, Decide where you want to be, Start! Now!, and Pull the Chute.

In fact there is a lot of hands on practical information to help readers, from calculating net worth, determining your savings rate, to assessing your real risk profile (not the mutual fund company profile), and proper asset allocation. Gail even dives into the RRSP vs. TFSA debate, as well as taking a hard look at real life circumstances such as relationships and money. I really think after reviewing Never Too Late, there is a wealth of solid, practical, and back to basics information here that will help anyone with their long term money and investing goals. Simple as that… Think you know all this material, then think again. There is a lot more depth with Never Too Late, than you may have anticipated.

Of course, if you have read this far, you know this is a book giveaway! The Ninja has one autographed copy of Never too Late, Take Control of Your Retirement and Your Future, to pass onto one lucky reader. Simply Subscribe to the Dividend Ninja, re-tweet this post, or leave a really nice comment, and you may be the lucky winner! I’ll be drawing that winner by October 21st for my Weekly Lineup post :)

The Dividend Ninja

The Dividend Ninja is a DIY (Do It Yourself) investor, who started blogging in 2010 about his journey into dividend stocks. After investing in mutual funds for years, and working with a second advisor in 2009, he realized it all came down to fees and commissions. Like most people, the market crash of 2008 and 2009 changed his views about investing and the financial industry.

I’m an email subscriber already :)

I love Gail! I read her blog daily and she gave me the tools to get out of debt and find the money to invest (TD e-series funds in my RRSPs and dividend stocks in my TFSAs)

To have an autographed copy of one of her books would be awesome! :) Thanks for the opportunity

Leave a nice comment? Okay, you are a great blogger and your wife is a very lucky woman! -:). Seriously though, I really like Gail’s previous books so I know that I will probably like this one as well.

  8. Hi everyone, thanx for all the comments :) How can you not be a fan of Gail’s amazing TV and writing? I almost gave in to Calgary_Girl becuase her comment was so nice. Kidding aside I’ll be placing all the names into a spreadsheet, randomizing it, and pulling the lucky winner!

I have watched her on the TV. She’s doing a great job – my wife, who hates “everything financial”, actually sits through her episodes (Till Debt do us Part) whenever she gets a chance!
Her book should be a great read.

I like that you’ve kept the entry criteria simple and given all your subscribers equal chance of winning rather than asking us to like on the Facebook and Tweeter to get multiple entries.

I’ve been an RSS subscriber for a while – keep up the good work! :)

I’ve read Gail’s Debt-Free Forever, her MoneySense articles and watched her on tv. I’d love the chance to read her new book as well! My parents are (obviously) closer to retirement than me, but they’ve recently become disappointed with their RRSP’s performance (high-cost mutual funds strike again). They’re looking to take a more active role with their money, so I’d love to be able to pass this book on to them.

  11. Joe Doxtater says:

Wow, at 52 I figured all was lost for me as too much time gone and too little ahead. Reading should be exciting then.

  12. Holy smokes! I never realized until just now that I had not subscribed to your posts!!!! I guess it’s because I just naturally visit your blog all the time that I didn’t even think of it. Maybe it’s because I see your Tweets when a new blog post gets posted.

At any rate, I also retweeted it when you originally published it.

I haven’t watched Gail’s TV show, but I do follow her blog. I like her up front personality and how she’s able to drive home important real life financial lessons.

Great post. I almost bought this book last week at Chapters but my phone rang and had a rendez-vous to look at a property.

    Cheers :)

    Cheers!

    Andrew
