This has been probably one of the busiest and most productive two weeks in my blogging career. For some reason everything took off at once – isn’t that always the way?
I’m absolutely delighted and enjoying every minute of it. Last week I attended FinCon12 (Financial Bloggers Conference) in Denver, and Philip of PT Money did yet another over-the-top and amazing job. While attending FinCon12, the deal for a blog I wanted to buy came through, and then I had my first Podcast interview on Thursday evening. I want to share all of these timely events with you.
The Dividend Pig
First off, I’m delighted to announce I am the new owner of The Dividend Pig. If you are not familiar with the Dividend Pig, this one of the top dividend investing blogs of 2010 and 2011, and the author regularly contributed to Seeking Alpha. The Dividend Pig and I started at nearly the same time back in the fall of 2010, and his blog quickly became one of my favourites.
I found the Pig’s articles to be top quality, in depth, and well researched. His stock analyses are simply high end. By becoming the new owner of The Dividend Pig, the bar has been set high. The Dividend Pig is an excellent writer, provided in-depth research behind his posts, and he is a tough act to follow. I truly wish the Pig all the best with his future endeavours. Of course he is welcome back anytime.

My First Podcast Interview
During one of our sponsored lunches at FinCon12, I had the pleasure to sit beside David Winchell, a regular reader of the Dividend Ninja. I thought that was pretty cool. It’s not very often us bloggers get to sit across from our readers and shoot the breeze. As life turns out, David does a great Podcast radio show on his website Stocks and Golf. David asked me if I would do an interview with him, and of course I said yes. This is my first podcast interview, and it turned out great! We did the interview on Thursday evening, and I think you will really enjoy it, great questions and a lot of fun – Thanks David!
Stocks and Golf Podcast #034, with my 15 minute segment, will be available for your listening pleasure on Monday morning. Just go to David’s website on Monday and check it out!
Another Awesome FinCon
As mentioned, Philip at PT Money did another amazing job this year in Denver with FinCon12. I really don’t know he does it. But this year he organized over 400 attendees, with full sponsorship – which included free lunches and free drinks! How cool is that? Each night, the event was held in different locales. Awesome events and awesome networking! Not to mention, fantastic seminars from rock-star bloggers. It was great to see some friends from last year, and make some new friends as well. If you have considered going to FinCon, but haven’t, then I strongly suggest you go for it next year! You really don’t want to miss out.
Special mention goes out to Adam Baker at Man Vs Debt, who held the party of a lifetime on Saturday evening. Adam rented the Lodi club in Denver, provided drinks, and that was complete with a roof-top dance floor and kick-ass DJ. Denver was hovering around 28 to 30 Celsius, so it doesn’t really get better than that.
Lastly, I would like to wish all my good blogging friends the very best at CPFC12, the Canadian Personal Finance Conference in Toronto. I think Preet and Krystal are going to do an amazing job with this event, and I wish I could have attended. Have fun guys!
To my regular reader’s hang-10, I have a big in-depth post planned on the Canadian banks!
