First off, I wanted to thank everyone who attended the webinar last Tuesday, with the Dividend Ninja (that’s me) and Peter Hodson. There were a few technical glitches, but I hope you found value in the webinar. Most importantly, I hope you enjoyed it.
If you were unable to attend the live webinar, good news! You can view the webinar via YouTube, download the presentation slides, and leave a comment. I’d like to thank Peter and the CMS team for the opportunity.
Also, if you are already a Canadian MoneySaver subscriber, be sure to look for my recent article in the May 2014 issue, Four Key Dividend Metrics You Need to Know. This is a brief introduction to four dividend metrics, to help you screen out a dividend titan from a dividend dud.
Top Canadian Blogs
Over at Modest Money Jeremy is running the Top Canadian Finance Blogs 2014 Final Round. I feel honored to have made it to the final top-10 round, and of course could sure use your vote! The top Canadian finance blog will be announced on Canada Day, July 1st, 2014. Thanks everyone! 😉
Fellow blogger Ben Carlson made it to Yahoo Finance! In his article, Fleeting sector leadership making it difficult for managers to outperform, Ben looks at sector rotation. More importantly he shows how random the patterns really are, and how impossible it would be to predict sector rotation. As one of the comments said, “reminds me of the roulette wheel.”
What was most interesting in the comments, was the number of readers who firmly believe predicting sector rotation is a valid strategy. Any pattern can be established after the fact, but can you really predict the market (sector rotation) ahead of time? Forget that random “strategy”. I’ll just buy-and-hold for the long term, and let the market do the work. Great job Ben!
